Urgent Notice: Fire Safety & Hosepipe Ban in Rumburgh
With the current prolonged dry spell, a hosepipe ban is now in place for Rumburgh. Our countryside is a tinderbox, and we need every resident to be hyper-vigilant against the threat of wildfires.
A single spark can trigger a disaster. Please take immediate precautions:
-
Glass & Litter: Dispose of all glass bottles properly. Discarded glass can act as a magnifying glass, focusing the sun’s rays and easily igniting dry grass.
-
Barbecues & Cigarettes: Avoid disposable BBQs in public spaces or near dry vegetation. Never drop cigarette butts; ensure they are completely extinguished.
-
Sparks & Bonfires: Refrain from lighting bonfires or using garden machinery that could strike sparks during the heat of the day.
What is at stake? An out-of-control fire spreads faster than emergency services can respond. It poses a direct threat to our homes, risks destroying precious crops and agricultural land, and devastates local wildlife by wiping out fragile habitats.
Thank you for keeping Rumburgh safe. If you see smoke, call 999 immediately.

This is my family's origin town. We are planning a visit soon from the states, as soon, as it is safe to travel anywhere under this regime. Bless You All, God Save the King!
